Cut close to the body in deep burgundy and black, this Gothic jacquard waistcoat has the dressed-up character of old formalwear with a darker, more unusual finish. The patterned front is framed by contrasting black lapels with metal eyelet detailing, while four ornamental buckle straps cross the chest in place of an ordinary buttoned front. An angular bat-shaped hem extends over the hips and gives the waistcoat its distinctive silhouette. Wear it over a high-collar shirt or lace-front blouse for evening occasions, Gothic events, masquerades and alternative formal outfits, or layer it beneath a dark coat when a plain black vest feels far too ordinary.
